Yohimba is a small tree, native to Africa. Its Latin name is Pausinystalia yohimbe. The active ingredients of yohimba bark are yohimbine and indole alkaloids.
The medical action of this substance is due to blocking certain receptors in the body. As a result, the functioning of the sympathetic system improves, which translates into an increased secretion of hormones – adrenaline and norepinephrine into the bloodstream. The sympathetic (also called sympathetic) system is responsible for activating the body and reacting to various factors. After its strong stimulation, the body goes into a “fight or flight” state.
The main factor contributing to this condition is the increase in adrenaline, which increases blood pressure and pulse. Yohimbine in small doses normalizes the pressure, while in larger doses – it increases it. Thanks to it, you can also improve the muscle pump – yohimbine dilates the blood vessels. It also stimulates the nervous system. For these reasons, its effects can be compared to caffeine.

The effect of yohimba, or more precisely, the yohimbine obtained from this plant, is not as obvious as other muscle building supplements. Yohimbine does not increase testosterone levels (as has been believed for many years), which is why many trainers believe that it is not as effective as other plant supplements. This is not true, because it has two very important effects – it supports sexual health, and it has a strong effect on fat burning – it is one of the best fat burners.
Yohimbine is often described as a fat remedy that does not respond to diet and exercise. Many people cannot get rid of fat, no matter how hard they train or what their diet is. In men, this fat appears on the abdomen, and in women, on the buttocks and thighs. For this reason, yohimbine cannot be regarded solely as an aphrodisiac.
Yohimbine and sexual health

Preparations of this type could be used for no longer than 2-3 weeks, because they had many side effects. The preparations available today work a bit differently and their side effects are weaker. Researchers tested the yohimbine supplements that are used today to test its effects on erectile dysfunction.
They concluded that side effects from short-term use of this drug appeared infrequently and pass quickly. Too high doses of yohimbine cause similar side effects to caffeine – nervousness, insomnia, heartache and tachycardia, hypertension.
Yohimbine is a strong agent, so it should not be taken when we suffer from other ailments, especially hypertension and heart disease. You should also not increase the doses of yohimbine on your own.
The plant improves male libido and improves mood. Thanks to it, you can also achieve similar effects as when using pre-training preparations – better focus during training and greater efficiency.
This preparation is recommended especially for men, while in women there was no increase in libido and other effects on sexual health.
Yohimbine versus slimming
The first studies on the slimming effect of yohimbine indicate that people taking it in the correct doses may lose more weight on a diet than people who do not take it.
While trying to answer the question whether yohimbine loses weight, researchers have come to interesting conclusions. Two groups of women who were on a 1000 calorie diet for 3 weeks were studied. One group of women was additionally given yohimbine, while the other group was given a placebo.
It was noted that in this group, women lost more than 1 kilogram more weight than in the placebo group. For this reason, it may be a solution for people who are not satisfied with the effects of their diet. Its action is also described as a cellulite remedy, in combination with the traditionally used caffeine for this purpose.
